I love my Connor.
This kid is the first born of two first borns, and he has the personality to prove it. He is stubborn and determined – I can see that already. He is Mr. Sociable and doesn’t hesitate to go make a new friend. He is doing a great job at being a big brother, of sharing his time and toys and everything else that used to be his alone.
Every once in a while, I still get some quiet one-on-one moments with Connor. One of my favorites happened the other day. Connor woke up quietly and didn’t wake Drew up (they now share a room).
I had been trying to be efficient and had been working in the morning, had our bed stripped and clean sheets ready to be put on. The comforter was in a pile at the foot of the bed. But instead of making the bed, we made it more of a mess! Connor giggled in hysterics as I covered him repeatedly with the sheet and he weaved trying to escape. We flopped on the pile of fluffy “cloud”. I laid down and sighed and Connor sighed next to me, snuggling up close enough to touch my nose with his. He put his arms around my neck and with the biggest smile on his face, yelled “Happy!”. There is no better word than that. HAPPY! Perfect contentment. Nothing but a fleeting moment. Gone without a picture or a video except for the mental image I will do my best to recall on days of terrible twos or trying teens! One that I hope I never forget.
Warmed my heart, and brought a tear to my eye. Stacy is "happy" too, Connor. Can't wait to see you little man...he's a first for all of us!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are able to be home so as not to miss such very special moments. You never know when they will happen. You have two adorable little boys!
